Another one of this year's favourites, Mihai Traistariu will sing Tornero for Romania in a mix of Englsh and Italian.

A little bit of history…

Romania started with a rather bad record at Eurovision but recently have seen things pick up.  In 2000 they finished 17th with what wasn’t a great entry, in 2001 they were relegated and a comeback in 2002 saw them achieve their highest result – 9th, from then, entries were more recognised with 10th in 2003, a disappointing 18th.  Last year was when Romania really got their chance to shine with their song ‘Let Me Try’.  Everything was right about it, great song, amazing singer and fantastic performance.  Romania won the Semi-Final and came third in the Final – their highest result to date.  So this year we see Romania in the Final again, surely the only way is up…

Singer & Song

Mihai Tristairiu Tornero

Well, the only way really does seem to be up for Romania!  I don’t think the song’s as good as last year but it’s still a great entry.  I preferred the original version to the new one – I’m not a fan of all the high parts, nonetheless, the song’s certainly a contender for victory and I’d be surprised to see it fare badly.  It’s a mixture of English and Italian, and it sounds really well.  Mihai is a good performer, not the best we’ll see, but he can sing – and the song really does require a lot of vocal talent.  Watch out for this on 20th May!

Prediction

Possible Winner: 1st-5th in Final

Surely this will be top 5.  If you look at my predictions page I’ve given it 3rd place, so I don’t think they’ll better last years performance, but I don’t they’ll do much worse either.  Mihai’s bound to pull this off, and if it’s anything like last year, there could be a huge stage set – one of the key factors to Luminita’s placing.  It really is a possible winner, and it’s certainly one to watch.

Prediction after Semi-Final

Top Ten: 7th-9th

I've had a change of heart on this one.  I don't think it's as strong as Eurovision fans do at all.  I've moved it down significantly and I don't think we're looking at a winner here anymore.  Surely it will be a good performance and will all sound well, but I prefer other upbeat songs and I think Turkey will be the main threat here.

Review of the Eurovision Performance

How good was this?! This was one of the more professional and enjoyable performances of the whole shaboozle in 2006 Eurovision.  The only thing I would criticise was the unnecessary, over the top and really rather silly choreography by the two girls seemingly fighting over our Mihai.  It just didn't look good.  Other than that the song sounded great and the vocal was very impressive.  Glad though, that this didn't better last years attempt from Romania, Luminita was certainly better, so just falling short of their best is what I think Romania should be happy with this year.  They've left me in anticipation as to what we're going to hear from them next year.  As for my prediction, well I was close, I guess I should have stuck to my initial reaction about the song rather than what I though would happen after the Semi-Final.
