Jelena Tomasevic will sing on home-turf this year for Serbia, with another beautiful Balkan ballad, 'Oro'. Could
they do the double?

Oro
A Little Bit of History...
Despite entering the competition twice as part of Serbia and Montenegro, the country made the most successful debut
known at Eurovision last year, when they entered as an independant country, winning on their first attempt.

The fatal flaw in this
year’s Eurovision system was that if the Balkans don’t experience as much Semi-Final success as they’re
used to and there are fewer of them in the Final (an almost certain reality), then it would only take a reasonably good song
from Serbia to pick up it’s fair share of 12 points. That said, Serbia
have come up with a song that I think is just as good as last years winning attempt, and with such a good draw, we could say
it’s guaranteed a bunch of Balkan 12’s regardless.With such a good
song, a great draw, and friendly neighbours who won’t have that many opportunities to spend their points elsewhere,
we are facing the possibility of a country ‘doing the double’ for the first time since Ireland
in the 1990’s.Oro is a beautiful Balkan ballad, so ethnic and simple,
and much better than any of the other ethnic ballads we’ve seen since their main introduction with Serbia & Montenegro’s
debut in 2004.Jelena performs and sings really well, and Serbia will know how to present this if the national final
is anything to go by.Another sound attempt from Serbia, and certainly a strong contender for victory.
