A Little Bit of History...
The Ukraine are relatively new at Eurovision, and in the five years they have been participating, they have become one
of Eurovision's most successful nations, with a win in 2004, a top ten finish in 2006 and finishing as runners up in 2007.
This year, the Ukraine are hoping to secure their strong record, which they have achieved by sending credited and experienced
artists from their homeland.
Singer & Song
Ani Lorak Shady Lady
If there’s one country
that has been coming up with consistently good entries lately, it has to be Ukraine. With the exception of their entry on home ground in 2005, every song has been a worthy contender for the Eurovision
crown, and they’ve tended to get the results to match. This year is no
exception, and Shady Lady is being backed by many fans and bookies to top the score board, and it’s not hard to see
why - it has everything bar a good draw going for it: strong performer, good song, impressive visual performance, and
more importantly, friendly neighbours.Ani Lorak (real name Karolina, then spelt
backwards for the stage name) is an experiences and popular performer, who has just topped the charts with Shady Lady in Ukraine,
an uptempo, disco number, not really camp enough to be schlager, but certainly energetic enough to make an impact at Eurovision.Ani sings really well, and really gives her all to the performance, which was bursting
with flames and an fantastic routine in the National Final.I think Ukraine will top their Semi Final with ease, and
should contend for the crown in the Final.
