Despite using the same format for their selection after several years of bad results, Poland came up trumps selecting
experienced American/Polish singer Isis Gee with her self penned, beautiful power ballad, 'For Life'.

For Life
A Little Bit of History...
Until Serbia won last year, Poland shared the
best result from a debut entry alongside Serbia & Montenegro
– coming second on their first go at Eurovision.Recently, Poland is another country that’s seen good and bad times. In 2003 they came 7th with their song for peace, but 2004 saw them closer
to the bottom of the scoreboard than the top, and in 2005 and 2006 they failed to qualify from the Semi with a tantalising
11th place on both occasions and managed 14th in 2007, maintaining there record of being in the top half of the
Semi-Final, but still failing to qualify.

Isis Gee For Life
Poland’s is another one of those entries that from the
first time I heard it, I loved it, and I still do.It’s a brilliant, big
Eurovision ballad, one of a major few in this year’s contest.Despite loving
the song, Isis Gee’s live performance has always left a lot to be desired, with wobbly vocals; sounding like she warbles
between singing notes falsetto and swiftly changing to belt – it doesn’t work for me, and in some cases, the woman
sounds completely out of tune, despite her calibre, stage presence and experience. It’s
a great song, but she really needs to get her act together and focus on changing her particular ‘singing style’,
because I don’t think it will wash with the rest of Europe. That said, Poland have always finished in the top half of the Semi with worse songs, despite never making
the top ten, so even if they manage the top half once again, Isis is through, and I really hope she manages it, regardless
of whether or not she pulls it together.
