A Little Bit of History...

Georgia made an impressive debut at Eurovision last year, qualifying from the Semi Final in 8th place and finishing 12th overall.

Diana Gurtskaya Peace Will Come

From I first heard it, Georgia was one of my favourite entries in this year’s Eurovision.  It was brought out at a stage when I wasn’t really sure if there were that many songs in the contest that I liked, and I took an instant shine to this one.  The song has been surprisingly underrated by fan polls and book makers, where I’m almost certain it’s a qualifier – or at least a song worthy of qualification.  The stage performance of ‘Peace Will Come’ was rather over done, and Diana didn’t look well on stage at all.  In fact, I was fairly sure that had she have been able to see what was going on around her, she would have changed it.  This brings me on to my second point – surprisingly, Georgia hasn’t come under much scrutiny for trying to gain the European sympathy vote, due to Diana’s blindness.  I’m glad this hasn’t happened, as I believe the power of Diana’s vocal and the anthematic feel to the song make this a worth contender in it’s own right.  A great song from Georgia, one I’m looking forward to seeing and one which I hope will manage to qualify for the Final.
