Albania have already selected their entry for Belgrade. Olta Boka won their National Selection, however, the result is
currently under investigation and is subject to change.

A Little Bit of History...
Albania debuted in Eurovision in 2004 when the Semi-Final was introduced, and in that year achieved their best result
to date. Anjeza Shahini did her country proud when she qualified from the Semi-Final and finished a very respectable
and unprecedinted 7th in Turkey. Since then however, their fortunes have taken a gradual slump. Ledina Celo
coult only muster up 16th place in 2005 and when they found themselves in the 2006 Semi, Luiz Ejlli could only manage 14th
place, 19 votes short of what he needed to make the Final. 2007's Albanian entry was probably one of the worst songs
I've heard at Eurovision, consequently, failing to qualify in 17th place.

It seems long ago from
Albania experienced that stint of success on their debut in 2004 with a sound top
ten entry, however, much could be said as to whether or not they’ve actually deserved anything better than what they
got in 2005, 2006 and 2007.This year, Albania are the only country to follow in their victorious neighbour’s footsteps,
sending a Balkan ballad to Eurovision, and there’s absolutely nothing diabolical about this entry whatsoever…
for a change.Olta Boka is inexperienced but seems to be able to perform competently,
and the song is pleasant enough. It doesn’t have any huge impact, but could
appeal to the Balkan block in their Semi-Final.If the competition were fairly
weak in the second semi this could stand a chance, however, with the second semi being the more competitive of the two, Albania could either slip in or slip out of that elusive top
ten.
