A little bit of history...

This is Armenia's first yeat at Eurovision.

Singer & Song
Andre Without Your Love

Andre is a popular performer in Armenia, and from what I've seen will deliver a good performance in Athens.  I think the song is great - just what Asia needs to bring to Europe to do well.  It's upbeat and very Eastern flavoured, I would indeed be surprised to see it fare badly.  His appearance and the presentation of the song will depend on how this does, and provided these factors are good, surely Armenia will do well.

Prediction
Qualifier: 8th-10th place

Like Andorra, I wouldn't be surprised if it does or doesn't qualify, I certainly think it has a good sporting chance though.  The draw is interesting.  Does being first up in the Semi (a position yet to produce a qualifier) mean you get to set a standard or does it mean your song can be instantly forgotten by what follows?  I hope Andre sets a standard :o)

Prediction after Semi-Final
20th-22nd in Final

After watching the performance, I was thinking to myself, "It isn't a good thing that after the first performance, I've already got one of my qualifiers wrong", yet, after what was a reasonable performance and what I thought was quite a poor and uncomfortable vocal, Armenia managed to battle the odds and qualified.  Being last out of the envelopes, Armenia will perform last in the Final, after Turkey and I really don't know what to make of it!  He won't win, far from it, infact I'm bold enough to say he was probably 10th in the Semi, just scraping through.  To do well, he needs to look more comfortable on stage, enjoy himself more and make the vocal much stronger and forward rather than as breathy as it was on Thursday night.  Unless he gets it together, I think Armenia will be the worst performer out of the Semi-Finalists on the Final night, coming somewhere around 20th-22nd.

Review of the Eurovision Performance

Hmmm... It certainly was a shock I'll give them that!  Though I predicted the song to qualify - somewhere between 8th and 10th (they came 6th) I though to say myself pretty much right on that one would be safe enough.  After watching the performance during the Semi-Final I wasn't convinced - I thought Andre's vocal sounded uncomfortable and poor - very breathy rather than strong (he might have sounded better singing the Coco-Dance).  The performance was however, rather good, and provided us with something interesting and different to watch.  All in all, it wasn't bad, but I did think there were other countries who deserved to qualify more and who should've been in the top ten in the Final that weren't.
